I ran into the same problem. The current consumption was too high for my application. I am assuming that you have just the Connex board? If you add the AudioStix and NetStix current consumption almost reaches 900 mA... I tried everything I could to bring the power consumption down, but I couldn't bring it down to desirable levels even when idle. In the end I went with a distributed processor system running pics for low level control and an ATmega128 for high level logic. Maybe someone my knowledgeable can shed some light on this.
