Hi Cliff, I am thirilled to know you got ideas spinning on your head out of seeing my project. Great! Thanks also for posting my video on stumbleupon, I've got some higher traffic.... I've been working for 3 years on this project and yes, I've been thinking o= n somehow publishing the project's details sometime so others can base on it to develop new or further projects. I have to organize the material and document all the weakly documented parts... That will come sometime soon. I= n the meantime, I will blog some parts on my blog <http://ecrespin.blogs.com>in the near future. I submitted you to stumbleupon, so you might get some good youtube traffic soon. Are you interested in putting together a project log for how you did it? I'm sure many will be interested. My brain is spinning on some variations to your theme that I'd like to do. Just got to keep the servo bill away from the wife ;-) Cliff ________________________________ From: gum...@li... Subject: Re: [Gumstix-users] 64 stepper motor system I finally have the gumstix driving the 64 motor artistic piece. After LOTS of experimentation with UART, i2c and SPI communications between the gumsti= x and the robostix, I ended up directly using the gumstix GPIOs for interfacing with the "64 motors art piece". The reason for not using the robostix to drive the motors was that I could not make the communications between the gumstix and the robostix transfer fast enough for the movement of the motors to be smooth enough. At the end I decided to use the GPIOs in a Parallel Port fashion. You can see a video here < http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DuAdx9MRaYeU> . In the last two or three frames of the video you can see the gumstix to your left. It works really well and stable. Great piece of hardware!!! Congratulations Gumstix guys. I can=B4t wait to put my hands on one of the new Verdexes. Thanks for all the help received. Regards Elias |
