Hi Luca, > Hi everyone, I would like to use a Gumstix basix 400bt for my robotic project, > but I have some trouble about the parts needed in order to getted started. > I think I need except the motherboard a wall power supply and a usb > programming cable. Ummm. The usb cable isn't a programming cable. Its just a usb cable that allows the gumstix to act like a usb device when connected to a PC. Probably not useful for robotics unless you're also going to be using a PC as a host of some type. > My problem is related to the way of the programming cable, where I have to plug > the usb cable on the Gumstix ? The USB cable plugs into some of the daughtercards, like the breakout-gs, or the waysmall-stuart. These daughtercards have a 60-pin hirose connector on them which is where the gumstix plugs in. This page: http://docwiki.gumstix.org/Packs_and_boards_setup shows how an audiostix, gumstix, and netCF card ll plug together, > and if I need a SPI link with other > microcontrollers where I have to bring the signals ? The breakout-gs and audiostix-2 boards both provide fairly easy access to the SPI signals. > Need also I a Hirose connector ? The gumstix has a 60-pin hirose connector and a 92-pin hirose connector. If you goto this page: http://gumstix.com/spexExpnsion.html and click compare, there is a column that says motherboard compatability which says "connex only". Theses are boards which plug into the 92-pin hirose connector. The boards which say "any gumstix" are boards which plug into the 60-pin hirose connector. So to make a stack, you can have one board that plugs into the 60-pin connector, the gumstix itself, and one board that plugs into the 92-pin connector (except for the basix which doesn't have a 92-pin connector). -- Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
