Hi Chris, Is this page relevant? http://www.pegasushabproject.org.uk/cfgps.html If you can't get NMEA sentences coming out of a cat /dev/something... then gpsd isn't likely to work. Take a look at the file INSTALL in the gpsd install. I'm looking at an old version, but it starts out like this: ---- "1. Start by making sure you can get data from your GPS, otherwise the later steps will be very frustrating. In this command stty -F /dev/ttyXXX ispeed 4800; cat </dev/ttyUSB0 replace ttyXXX with the filename of the port. This will probably be either /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyS0. When you run this command, you should see text lines beginning with $ come to stdout (possibly after a short initial burst of binary garbage). If you don't see this, you may have OS-level problems with your serial support, but more likely have the wrong device. Look again." ---- Regards, Rich On 12/11/06, Chris <c.e...@bt...> wrote: > > > Hi, in an earlier thread I asked how to get access to data from my gpstix. In that mess I can miss the email pearls that are sent to me. My apologies if I fail to reply-please ping me again if you feel a reply is in order! I want to be in communication, I'm just suffering the 'modern disease' of managing a dicey signal to noise ratio.
