Yes - that's probably the only mod you'll need. If you connect the +5 side of the resistor to one of the +5 lines on the UARTs port (pins 3,6,11,14). > Will I still be able to access the gumstix using ssh? You want to make sure that the gumstix boots. I'd then setup the jumpers as per http://docwiki.gumstix.org/Robostix_gumstix_ISP and run uisp to make sure it can detect the ATMega128.
