I think philips sold it's semiconductors division), it has an analog input, and a 4-bit digital bus output plus i2c control and other stuff. IIRC, it supports NTSC, PAL (w/ some variants) and SECAM. IIRC it decodes in 8 or 10 bits, but the bus was 4 bits. That's interesting because you can either try to read from it with 4 GPIOs or use a parallel-to-serial chip (not sure about the naming, but it exists, it gets parallel data and serializes it through a data pin, it also outputs a clock), which one could use into a SSP port and let the hardware do the receiving/buffering/interrupting all by itself.
