You really want to change the current, which is controlled by the current limiting resistors. Unfortunately, on the robostix, this is a really tiny 8 pin 330 ohm resistor pack. The simplest thing to do would be to rotate the LED 90 degrees so that the end closest to the power jack is disconnected. Then wire in the desired current limiting resistor and a wire over to the robostix.
