You don't *need* to charge it with a higher current, it is almost always best to charge it at a lower current than specified. Check the specifications of the battery. For example, my 800mah packs can be discharged at 20C and charged at 1C, so I would normally charge them at far less than the 800ma maximum (800mah * 1C), and only at the max if I were in a hurry.
