Since gumstix's buildroot is supposed to have a more specific purpose (serving gumstix's users) rather than a generic one (being a generic cross-platform tool), what about taking off pcmcia from the menu? It's not the polite choice but maybe help. Users (specially first-time ones) will only see pcmcia-utils instead (A note could be added to pcmcia-utils menu's entry warning that ir replaces pcmcia for newer kernels).
