We found that the ethernet is not started as a device before the config tries to use it. So our interfaces file on gum2 looks like this for example: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 152.78.189.12 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 152.78.189.255 gateway 152.78.189.254 pre-up /sbin/modprobe smc91x Cheers Kirk ps: you're welcome to log in to gu...@gu... its got the latest build - which has enabled mmc at last - thanks for the tips people.
