The only difference between the mini-DIN-8 and a DB-9 is the form-factor (i.e. the mini-din-8 is quite a bit smaller). You can purchase the DB-9 to mini-din-8 cables from gumstix in either null-modem (what you use to connect to a PC) or straight thru varieties. > I'm thinking I just need something like this > http://www.smarthome.com/1405cbl.html > and I'll be ok. but I don't want to buy until I'm 100% sure. The Mac used an entirely different pinout on the mini-din-8. I believe that the one on the gumstix is the same as what's on the Sun workstations. > Would any > of the cables available on gumstix.com work? That's what you want, although you may need a gender bender. The null modem cables have a female DB-9 connector on them. I'm not sure what the straight tru ones use. -- Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
