Hi Nadir, On 9/27/05, Nadir Bagaveyev <na...@sc...> wrote: > Hello. I am trying to understand communication between Gumstix and Robost= ix. I am connecting Gumstix to laptop through ISP on Robostix. What serial = device on gumstix ./dev/ directory connects to Robostix? Is it ttyS0? What = serial device gumstix uses to communicate with my laptop? Just a note about the ISP connector. You should only use it when there is no gumstix plugged into the robostix. The gumstix connector on the robostix board is the console, which is /dev/t= tyS0 The STUART connector on the robostix (which is 4 of the pins from the 2x8 block of pins) is also passed through from the gumstix, and can be accessed as /dev/ttyS2 on the gumstix. Note that both the console (FFUART) and STUART ports on the robostix are TTL level and will require serial voltage conversion to use with normal RS-232 devices (like a PC). If you add jumpers, like the two yellow wires shown in the top left of the photo over here: http://gumstix.org/tikiwiki/tiki-index.php?page=3DRobostix-Gumstix-ISP then the STUART port on the gumstix will be connected to UART-0 on the ATMega128 on the robostix. The gumstix connector (which is the one with the black/green/yello/red cable plugged into it in the above photo) is what you connect to your laptop, and this is where you'll see the bootup messages for the gumstix. -- Dave Hylands Vancouver, BC, Canada http://www.DaveHylands.com/ |
