Yes, As Dave pointed out, there was a symbol whose definition was getting = wiped out. Fixing the .mk resolved the issue. Now a simple make from gumstix-buildroot creates a proper root-fs. I = still tweak a few files in root/etc and do a second make to fold them in but = that takes just seconds. It also reduced the time required to build by 20%. There is no need to = do the 'make hostap' followed by 'make' to rebuild the kernel.
