Hi guys, I've just been given a task which I believe a gumstix will be ideal for. We've got a lockable set of draws which, rather than using a key to be locked with, there is a RS232 interface available. Currently the draws are connected to the desk PC they are next to, however we would like to detatch them and just provide an ethernet interface. The basic gumstix connex 200 and etherstix with tweener or waysmall (for RSR232) looks like the most suitable hardware. If I was doing this on a desktop PC, I would use Tomcat as a webserver and RXTX to communicate to the serial port. Although Java may be portable to the gumstix (I've read people saying they have, but not found any downloads yet) I very much doubt tomcat will be. Can anyone provide any comments/suggestions for this idea? Regards, -Jeff Fern |
