I have been using MPC for ages and it has always worked great. Just recently it has started to crash. All the time. I do not remember installing any new codecs or A/V related programs. It will crash if I try to open any avi file, and on the options->playback->output dialog. I have tried changing the output options in the .ini but still nothing works. I have removed all A/V codecs and reinstalled just the base ones. Also tried disabling built in filters. The log file is always the same (see below). I am using version 6.4.8.2
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have tried to fix this problem since I posted the original message and I have finally done it.
Believe it or not it turned out to be a conflict with Mcafee Viruscan 8. Specifically the buffer overflow protection. When I turned this feature off everything began to work fine.
I found the problem by using a freeware program called Dependency Walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com). When I profiled mplayerc.exe it showed that entapi.dll was causing the error. A quick search of this file on the web revealed it was the buffer overflow protection.
I tried everything from unistalling codecs, devices and programs and then it turns out to be this!!! The one piece of software that is supposed to protect and help my system and it kill my favorite player.
Well now you all know. I did notice a couple of similar unresolved posts so hopefully this will help someone out.

I have tried to fix this problem since I posted the original message and I have finally done it.
Believe it or not it turned out to be a conflict with Mcafee Viruscan 8. Specifically the buffer overflow protection. When I turned this feature off everything began to work fine.
I found the problem by using a freeware program called Dependency Walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com). When I profiled mplayerc.exe it showed that entapi.dll was causing the error. A quick search of this file on the web revealed it was the buffer overflow protection.
I tried everything from unistalling codecs, devices and programs and then it turns out to be this!!! The one piece of software that is supposed to protect and help my system and it kill my favorite player.
Well now you all know. I did notice a couple of similar unresolved posts so hopefully this will help someone out.
