I'm using guitarix in a live context with a MIDI controller. When used with a gain/volume control, the control feel unnatural compared to an analog volume pedal. There's a rather sharp drop in perceived volume at the top range of values, and the bottom range requires more movement to achieve a similar change in perceived volume. I know the controls themselves are using a logarithmic scale (decibels), but I'm wondering if a weighted scale might be needed for adjustments made with a MIDI controller to give a smoother, more natural feel throughout the range?

I'm willing to tweak with it a bit if you could get me oriented with the locations of the code involved.

I found this page very interesting on the topic: http://www.dr-lex.be/info-stuff/volumecontrols.html

Thanks.

Hello. Is anyone able to offer some guidance on how I can poke around with the scale used with MIDI controller change messages? Thanks.

    Hi
The Master Out control use a weighted scale, It should be doable to provide a option to use a weighted scale to convert midi values to control values.

Source file is gx_paramtable.cpp on the rt-site
    and gx_main_midi.cpp on the UI-site
    regards
