Only works in super user (or crashes after the properties screen). Says file not found. No known way to set up the programme as there are no instructions. As SU I can get into the programme but nothing shows how to call in the list for my television viewing area. So I just have empty columns.

You need XMLTV (I guess that you known this), and all the dependencies to build the application. Install it (see INSTALL file for this purpose) and run (I haven't any related problems running application as normal user). The first time you run it, a wizar is showed, to make the first program setup, but al the settings can be changed later. That's all.
