[Gtkpod-devel] why does gtkpod read full files when adding to playlist?

why does gtkpod read full files when adding to playlist? I tried to
disable MD5 hashing (sort of), but it did not help.

I have my music on a samba share and it is quite inconvenient to see
that gtkpod actually reads the files twice (once when adding to playlist
and once when syncing with ipod).
