[Gtkpod-devel] NEWS and (vs.?) ChangeLog

Hi everyone,

Fixing a few crash bugs (patches are yet to come), I noticed Gtkpod has
a "NEWS" file and also a "ChangeLog" file.
What is the specific purpose of each of the files?
Whould it make sense to keep the NEWS file and replace the ChangeLog
file by a script that extracts a change log out of the Git history?
