An attempt to click the close button (top right Windows 'X') causes Windows to display the "This Program is Not Responding" error message. The default behavior is normally the window is destroyed but the application continues to run. Instead I used the following code and tested on a Windows XP machine (using Visual C Express 2005 to compile): #include <gtk/gtk.h> int main (int argc, char *argv[]) { GtkWidget * window; GtkWidget * button; g_thread_init (NULL); gdk_threads_init (); gtk_init (&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new (GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); button = gtk_button_new_with_label ("Click me"); gtk_container_add (GTK_CONTAINER (window), button); gtk_widget_show_all (window); gtk_main (); return 0; } This produces the same problem as before: the GtkWindow is displayed but the contents are not drawn and the application is non-responsive. I tested with Gtk 2.8.20 (the most recent version supported by the binary distributions of gtk2-perl) and Gtk 2.10.11 (the most recent binary/devel download from http://gladewin32.sourceforge.net/modules/wfdownloads/). I don't have a system running XGL and can't bugfix this one myself, but from what I can tell the issue lies with incompatibilities in the Gtk2-perl modules (and more specifically the signal_connect methods) rather than my own code. ReportedBy: jz...@vt... QAContact: gtk...@li... Gtk2->main; exit 1; If you remove the "-threads-init" line then the program works fine. I also tried using the Gtk2::Gdk::Threads->init and Gtk2->init calls instead; the results are the same. CPAN stated: *** can not find package gobject-2.0 >= 2.0.0 *** check that it is properly installed and available in PKG_CONFIG_PATH To resolve this I downloaded the developer packages using fink. On this web site: http://gtk2-perl.sourceforge.net/install/panther.html for gtk2-perl it makes no mention of Gtk development packages. Perhaps that should be added. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email |

I can now reproduce the bug with Gtk 2.10.10, it's a bit obscure but still probably worth fixing. 1) run ./test 2) in a terminal: sleep 10;gconftool-2 --type String --set /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme Tango (change Tango to any icon theme you have, but which is not the current icon theme) 3) within ten seconds, open the File menu in test and leave it open For me the window expands when the icon theme changes. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email |

If you happen to have the File menu of the test program open when a style reset happens, might the problem still occur? I'm not quite sure how to trigger a style reset in that circumstance to check. (I'd have to have gnome-theme-manager focussed, in which case the menu wouldn't be visible.) -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email |
