I have written a patch, available at
http://www.flyn.org, for GSnes9x which adds three nice
features.

First, GSnes9x now honors the standard --geometry option.

Second, a user can now configure the path to the
computer's joystick devices. For example,
/dev/input/js0 may be used instead of /dev/js0.

Finally, a joystick can now be used to navigate
GSnes9x's ROM listing and choose a ROM to play. The up
and down arrows choose the previous and next ROM in the
list. The X and Y buttons may be used to hop up or
down ten ROMs. The A button is used to select a ROM to
play.

I hope that you find this patch useful. I would like
to see it merged into GSnes9x's mainstream source code.
