Changes compared to v4.0.2: * **File → Import hOCR…** applies a saved hOCR file to the selected pages or all pages. Pages are matched in order and each page box must match the target page's pixel size within one pixel; only the text layer is replaced, as one undo step. A rejected import shows the page count, dimensions, or parse reason instead of an empty error message. Images and annotations are untouched. Pages without OCR are now included in a multi-page hOCR save as empty page boxes, so they keep their position and round-trip as pages with no text. This lets corrected OCR be restored after rebuilding a session from the original images. * Restoring a crashed session now copies its snapshot into the current temporary session and removes the snapshot once the pages are available. A restored session is therefore removed on a normal exit instead of being offered again on every start. A failed restore leaves the snapshot intact. * The crashed-session picker now offers **Discard** as well as **Restore** and **Cancel**. **File → Open crashed session** opens the same picker instead of a folder chooser that could not select the `.sdb` file. Sessions in use by another instance are skipped without blocking startup. * The Messages dialog no longer clips its global "Don't show this message again" label and checkbox. The control now sits in a fixed row below the message list and above the buttons, so it stays visible however many messages there are, and the list uses the dialog's spare height while each message row keeps its natural height. The columns and rows are now separated by the same spacing used elsewhere in the dialog, so headers, message cells, and hide checkboxes no longer touch. A message without a page number leaves its Page cell empty instead of showing "None". * Closing the Messages dialog with Escape or the window close control now returns to the caller instead of leaving it waiting. Message text is a selectable label rather than a focusable text view, which avoids a segfault in the GTK4 IBus input-method module when the dialog is closed. * The text-layer and annotation canvases now follow the active Pan, Select or Select & Pan tool, so each tool behaves the same in the image and in a layer pane. Pan pans with the left button, Select selects with the left button, and Select & Pan selects with the left button and pans with the middle button. The middle button no longer pans while Pan or Select is active, and the pointer shows a grab hand or crosshair to match the active tool. * Focusing a slice while editing the text or annotation layer now zooms so its line is drawn at a consistent, comfortable reading size instead of a fixed fraction of the pane. Short and long words from the same line look alike, and a long word still fits with a margin around it. A **Focus zoom** control beside the navigation buttons adjusts that size in 5% steps from 50% to 200% (default 100%); it applies live, **Reset** returns it to 100%, and the chosen level is remembered across restarts for both layers. * The control bar below the text or annotation editor now always keeps only its minimum height. At startup the scanner-detection progress bar disappears once detection finishes, and the space it released used to enlarge the edit bar; the view now keeps that space. In a vertical split the image and the layer canvas each take half of it. * A word added manually inside an existing OCR paragraph's bounding box, but outside its lines, is now included in the saved PDF's searchable text layer. The exporter gives such words the synthetic OCR line the PDF renderer requires, so words added after importing an old hOCR layer no longer disappear from the output. * **Scan** now remembers a click made while scan options are still being applied and starts the scan as soon as the apply finishes, instead of dropping the click and making the user click again. The focus-zoom popover also closes when its layer control bar is hidden, so switching layers and coming back no longer needs an extra click to open it. * Pressing or dragging in the image view while no page is displayed no longer raises a `TypeError`. Select and Select & Pan now ignore input with no image and leave no partial gesture, so the first selection after a page appears starts where the user pressed. * The layer control bar now appears and disappears immediately with its layer, without waiting for a window resize. It has a fixed height instead of sitting behind a draggable divider, so the image or split view always keeps all the remaining vertical space and returning to the Image tab reclaims the bar's space at once. * **Device blacklist** now works as its hint says. The value is matched case-insensitively against the label shown in the Device list and the backend name, so `CameraA` hides a camera that SANE offers as a scanner. A **Blacklist this device** button hides the selected device in one click, cached device lists are filtered without a rescan, and a pattern that hides every device reports that no devices were found instead of crashing. The preference now explains what it matches and gives an example. * The image selection can now be cleared explicitly with **View → Clear image selection**, a toolbar button next to the selection tools, or Escape. Clearing removes the rectangle instead of collapsing it to a zero-size selection, so **Add** is disabled and **Crop** reports no region; navigating to another page keeps it cleared.
