[gscan2pdf-help] solved: scanimage argh!

Okay, that was an ordeal.  First I broke it worse, but the problem is
solved.

I uninstalled the brother rpm and then reinstalled it and now everything
is back to normal.

PS -- the brother "fix" is for scanners actually connected to the
computer and this is a network one, so the "fix" I referred to in my
earlier question was no help at all.

I *think* the samsung software somehow aliased the networked scanner
into a "local" one, which really got things confused, especially when I
used OpenSuSE YAST to try to reconfigure/remove the alias scanner(s),
which resulted in no scanner at all.
