Hello.

After a well working week now the app gscan2pdf is crashing when the scanner begins to scan.
The scan stops but the scanner remains 'busy'.
A restart of gscan2pdf finds a crashed session, but can't connect to the busy scanner.

I have tried gscan2pdf from Mint repository (v 2.1.0-1) and latest direct from here (v 2.3.0-1), same behavior. All dependencies are OK.
In the past days there where some security updates of system components.

My config:
Epson V370, fully installed and working OK with Epson iScan and Simple Scan.
Mint Cinnamon Tessa 19.1 (up to date).

If you need more information, please give me an advice, I am really new on Linux (comming from Windows).

Have you tried power-cycling the scanner before restarting gscan2pdf?

Yes. I have to disconnect the power.
Then gscan2pdf recognise the scanner, but crashes again and again (when I start the scan)...

Please start gscan2pdf from the command line with:

    gscan2pdf --log=log

reproduce the problem, quit, and post the log file.

There are no errors in the log file.

You say gscan2pdf crashes when you start the scan. Do you mean that gscan2pdf hangs? i.e. nothing happens? Does the scanner do anything?

What happens if you turn off the preview option and reduce the depth option to 1?

With "crashes" I meant that the app disappeared from the desktop, the window closed, it is gone without a trace. So it is "normal" that the log do stop logging at the point the scanner starts the scan and the app shut down.
The scan stopps working before it starts the run, but hangs busy.

    I add a log2 with a normal scan with bitdepth 8.

And I have installed two additional libs for iscan to safe files in jpg and png. A conflict possible?
    libjpeg62
    libpng12-0

Apologies for the late response. I see a successful scan in your log file.

What happens if you deselect the preview option?

    Is this still a problem?
