Selecting "Auto" for choosing scan source, the scanner first scans pages from ADF and additionaly pages from Flatbed, also when this is not wanted. It's not possile to scan just from ADF when chosing "Auto" scan source. The scanner always continues scanning from Flatbed without stopping. With the scan source Auto option there should at first be used the ADF and when there aren't pages in ADF then automatically switch to Flatbed!

I apologise for not responding to this bug report sooner - it seems to have got lost in my email inbox.

However, in this case, the problem is not with gscan2pdf, but with the scanner. gscan2pdf simply passes on the options that it retrieves from the scanner backend. My scanner (HP OfficeJet) does not have your problem.

If you start gscan2pdf from the command line with the --log=log option, I can look at the log and help you report the bug against the correct package.

Hi Jeffrey! This time my reply is quite late. Sorry for that! If the #229 issue is only associated to my Samsung printer, the additional work is not worth it. But by the way there are two suggestions for improvement:

    • After selecting a crop area with the rectangular selection tool it would be brilliant to have a symbol in the menu bar to crop (instead going to "Tools" --> "Crop" --> "Apply"
    • The page range option save "selected" for saving scanned pages stays selected for following saving actions. Is it useful to set save "all" as default (because this is the most common used option)

Thanks for making my Scan work more simple. Gscan is great!!!

P.S.: On my (german)website www.trapp.co.at you can download about 60 discontinued add-ons that work excellent with Pale Moon and Thunderbird 52.9.1 (Flatpak)

You might use save "all" most often, but most of the time, I use "selected", as I tend to put a large number of unrelated documents in the ADF, leave them to scan, and then save them a document at a time.

Adding a crop button would certainly be possible. I would have to rethink the existing buttons, though.

I've added a crop button for the next release.
