Over the last few days, there have been several false positive virus warnings from Microsoft Security (Defender).

    There is no virus.
Anyone can examine and compile the source code here at SourceForge.
In addition, the compiled code is SSL signed, so it cannot be altered or corrupted.

Hopefully, Microsoft will correct this situation shortly.

In the meantime, there is a workaround.
You can exclude the Grub2Win directories from Defender virus scan.

The path to the exclusion settings is

Windows Security > Home > Virus and threat protection > Manage settings
    Now scroll down to
    Exclusions > Add an exclusion

The following Grub2Win directories should be excluded.

C:\grub2 This is the main directory. You may have installed it to another drive.

C:\grub2.old This is the backup directory.

C:\ProgramData\grub2win Used for Grub2win work files, installs and upgrades.

This is a temporary situation. Once Microsoft fixes Defender, the exclusions can be removed.

    Thanks for understanding,

    Dave

First off: thank you SO MUCH for Grub2Win.

Next: sadly, Windows Defender still considers it vermin, and erases it if given the chance, along with its installer file.

Happily, we have this workaround that you note.

    cheers, and happy progging !!
