    Siolu - 2023-08-07

I have no idea why this is happening, I have default windows defender, I disabled its real time, disabled its other components and yet it still gives me that error.
I have been a long time user of your software and its darn good if I must say, its just that I stopped using it after I removed dual booting, like removed the entire efi partition since I messed my system real bad due to a windows error (Avast Free antivirus deleted my important windows file) so I had to re-install from scratch.
    This caused two problems :
    1) Grub2win simply would not come up on boot screen
    2) Grub2win failed to set itself as the default bootloader
I was using it for a long time and simply did not know what to do, I un-installed it after trying a whopping 32 times to make it work and used AndroidOS built in grub which worked.
Now, I am using Linux Grub but I plan to ditch it and take up grub2win again.
I tried to install it today and it gives me the zip extraction error.
I have no antivirus running so no clue why its happening, even when I had McAfee running in the past, Grub2Win did not give me any problems and yet now its happening, any help would be appreciated.
PS. Do not ask me to change UEFI settings, Secure Boot is switched off, Virtualization is off

Update: For some reason the zip worked and I installed G2W and yet same error as before, G2W simply does not set itself as default.
also, how do I clear my past boot options, I have long deleted them but android, fedora and other options are still coming in G2W, I deleted their EFI folders too.

Update 2 : I used Fedora bootloader to successfully get a grub
Makes no sense why Grub2Win is not working

    Hi,

Please run the Grub2Win diagnostics and email them to me.

I need the diagnostics to understand where your issue lies.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi Siolu,

I received your diagnostics, here's what I found.

    You have two EFI partitions:

The Microsoft Windows EFI is on disk 0 partition 2.
It is 67 MB, formatted FAT32, unlabeled.

A second EFI is on disk 0 partition 6.
It 95 MB, formatted FAT16, labeled "efi"

Multiple EFI partitions cause many boot problems.
Your EFI firmware gets confused as to which is the "real" EFI and so do you.

I suggest you delete the second EFI on disk 0 partition 6.

I suspect you also have multiple \grub2 directories on your disks.
This causes problems because at boot time, Grub2Win searches for \grub2 directories on all partitions..
It assigns the GNU Grub prefix variable to the first one it finds.
This may not be the correct directory and things may be out of sync.

I see that you installed Grub2Win to your D: drive partition.
You should delete any other \grub2 directories and re-install Grub2Win to your D: drive.

Also have a look at this Grub2Win help file about EFI firmware issues.

    file:///C:/grub2/winhelp/usermanual/Grub2Win%20User%20Manual.html?EFIFirmwareIssues.html

Please let me know if this works for you.

    Thanks,

    Dave

As soon as I got your reply, I got to work, I deleted the second EFi partition, it was made by my fedora installation, however now I am getting to know that simply deleting the partition does not fix things, my fedora installation broke because of fstab error.
However disregarding that, the issue with Grub2Win was that despite having androidx86 before, it still did not come.
I think it was due to an update, I had updated my system and in turn something happened so I had to fixboot and stuff.
Right now, I tried to change the windows bootloader to boot Grub2Win however the pc completely ignored Grub2Wins existence

I read the Firmware issues txt before too however it makes no sense when I was booting multiple android os with windows with Grub2Win and everything was fine.
I removed grub2 from where-ever I could find but then again, its not an issue about booting since Grub2Win does not become the default bootloader in the app itself.
      I posted some screenshots.
I do not see windows OR grub2win in the firmware.
I went on to clean directories of all grub2win I could find, I rebooted and used cleaning software to find the term and I think I removed everything.
Now, I reinstalled grub2win from scratch.
      My linux grub works still.
I went on to remove that grub and have it boot straight to windows.
and........ in the screenshot, no windows or grub option
Even after refreshing the GNU grub modules, no change.
When I press set grub 2win as default, does not make any change but says successful.
When I force unconditional load of grub, nothing changes.

Hi, I also noticed that in my UEFI Bootloader, only Network and Windows Boot Manager options were there
      No, Grub2Win

    Hi again Siolu,

I'm taking this discussion private and directly to you because it appears unique to your particular machine.
