Thanks for this amazing resource. I feel like i'm close, but i'm missing something that's allowing me to do the proper install. My goal is to allocate a partition from Windows 10's C: drive that will host the Alpine Linux desktop OS.
I followed Alpine's Guide and successfully mounted the partition that was shrunk from C:
However, editing the bootloader config and adding menuentry has me confused. I know it's more of a challenge to do so on Windows. I tried through WSL but that didn't seem viable. I saw the recommendations for os-prober and grub-mount, but i'm not sure where/when in the process I need to download them and i've read that os-prober is unreliable.
I turned to Grub2Win and tried to add Alpine, first with the Debian option and then via custom code. Trial and error gave me things like "kernal not found", etc.
I can fetch the UUID from Grub2Win's partition list option, but i'm not sure how to proceed further.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Did you complete the diagnostic menu and click OK?
This is shown in screenshot 1 attached.
After that, the program should generate file C:\grub2\diagnose.7z
and you should see the message in screenshot 2.
This gives you the option to upload the file to my server.
If not, something in your system, perhaps your antivirus program, is preventing this.
In your case, I must have a copy of your Linux grub.cfg file to proceed.
Realize that there literally thousands of Linux distributions, each with unique commands required to boot. These are stored in their Linux grub.cfg file. Without your specific file, I have nothing to work with. There is nothing further I can do.
The code you entered in the Grub2Win custom configuration does not contain valid GNU Grub commands. It appears to be a Linux shell script. Not Grub boot code.
You will need to boot your Alpine Linux and copy the grub.cfg file to a flash drive. You can then transfer it to Windows and send it to me.
Please let me know.
Dave

Hi Marcus,
Please send me Grub2Win diagnostics.
The diagnostics give me detailed information on your hardware and Grub2Win configurations.
With this info, I can better help you.
Also send me copy of your Alpine grub.cfg file. This is usually located in the Linux /boot/grub or /boot/grub2 directory.
Thanks,
Dave
I've PMed you.

Sent to the server.
