Apologies about the delay in response, I had some connectivity issues which I have now resolved.

Please can you try upgrading the version of postgres to 8.2 or above. I would recommend trying version 9.

The software was never tested on version 8.1 and it would be nice to rule out version incompatibility in the first instance.

There are centos rpms available for postgres:
