#244 Barriers need better death detection

Underload its quite likely that the ProcessStatusImplementation will flag a process as dead, causing the console's view of its barriers to be reset.

We need rapid / inaccurate detection for the interactive console, but a more consevative strategy is required for barriers. (Perhaps poll the status several times).
