One way to get updates is to purchase the app from the App Store. Then you will get notified via Apple's Software Update. Alternatively, you can subscribe to the announcement mailing list, and you will get a mail each time a new version is released. Both of these are push mechanisms, which I generally prefer over a polling mechanism that has to periodically check if an update is available.
The pie chart is a huge feature. It requires duplicating a lot of functionality (view display + display options/customization, view navigation, item selection/focus, etc). It also makes the app more complex. I prefer to keep GrandPerspective focussed, small and simple. If you prefer pie chart visualization, there are already other apps that provide this.

Actually I don’t have the money to purchase as i am a student ,other apps like daisy disk and the mailing list does not work. If you know any free app then pls refer.

Ah, I see. Out of interest, why does the mailing list not work. Are the mails filtered out by an aggressive spam filter?
Sorry, I am not aware of a free mac program that uses pie chart visualization. As a historic curiosity, the very first disk scan program I created used pie chart visualization, but that was for MS-DOS and pre-dates GrandPerspective by a few years, so that is of no help to you.
