I think, particularly this bug follows the registered bug 1753419.
The problem is in that the gq doesn't save entered passwords. At least on my system (I use Gentoo Linux, gq-1.2.2 was installed from sunrise portage tree).
So after each restart of application I have to re-enter password for authentification on LDAP-server.

Try Version 1.2.3, this should fix this problem. I think, this bug can be closed.

The password save function requires the Gnome Keyring Manager. The Gnome Keyring Manager is not available under KDE, for example. Without Gnome Keyring Manager you have to enter you password after a restart of GQ. Do you using GQ under Gnome with the Keyring Manager?

With the Gnome Keyring Manager, you can save the password and after a restart of GQ, you can connect to the ldap server without enter the password. I tested this with GQ 1.2.3 and the trunk version.

    Regards Herbert

I have the problem with 1.3.4 using KDE. Even if I manually start gnome-keyring-daemon, the "save password" option remains greyed out.

The problem is majorly compounded by gq's failure to refresh. If "cache connection" is checked, object additions and deletions in the LDAP tree (e.g. add or delete a user) are not shown unless gq is restarted. Not even "refresh" helps. Then again, if "cache connection" is not checked, gq asks for the password each and every time a new LDAP object is clicked on. This makes gq completely unworkable under KDE.

I was using a late pre-1.0 version until last week and had none of these problems; it worked just fine. From that perspective, this is a fatal regression.

    Do you have gnome-keyring installed?

Yes, gnome-base/gnome-keyring (but without gnome-extra/gnome-keyring-manager) was installed.
