I've managed an install of Crunchbang 11 (Waldorf) via a Live CD but the iMac 5,1 (2006) throws an error "no bootable device". I don't have the original OSX discs any more and simply trying to get Linux onto the iMac. Any forum discussions managing it have mentioned using the rEFIt partitioning tool but this appears to be an OSX tool only. Hence me heading here to GPT fdisk..

I need a way to repair the grub boot. I've not really worked with grub though so would appreciate, if anyone has time, in helping me reach the end goal without having to fork out more money to get an OSX install disc.

Can GPT fdisk loaded onto the rEFIt or rEFInd usb? Or could I invoke it whilst running the Crunchbang Live CD? Or even run it off a 2nd USB? Or some other method..
