The autoconf plumbing shoudl detect that you don't have expat and suspend use of it if it's not present. The pertinent lines from the ./configure phase are: checking for libexpat... -lexpat checking for XML_ParserCreate in -lexpat... yes But debugging the case when it's not found is probably harder than just installing whatever package on your system provides the expat development libraries. RedHat & Fedora call this 'expat-devel' but I don't know what that translates to in Ubutnu. RJL |
