I am brand new to GPS devices, so I hope I don't confuse things too much here. I want to download all the info I can from my shiney new Garmin Edge 205. In particular, I want to share my tracks(i.e. path I traveled, hope these are tracks?) and of course I want to upload tracks from other people on the net to my GPS from .GPX files as well. When I run: gpsbabel -t -r -w -i garmin -f usb: -o gpx -F backup.gpx I get a backup.gpx that appears to contain the "marked locations" I entered into the GPS and the routes I created. I also saw a "<trk>" named "0" that I did not understand what that was..it had only one point in it. I thought the <trk> items would be the tracks I wanted to share. Should I not be able to download the "course" or the move-by-move points(tracks?) that trace the path I traveled? Shouldn't I be able to upload a .gpx track with "gpsbabel -i gpx -f fred.mpx -o garmin -F usb:"? I'm hoping I'm just a newbie on this and I am missing something simple/obvious to this list's regulars... gpsbabel -V reports version 1.2.8-beta20060605. Thanks, Bill Not sure it is useful, but here was the backup.gpx generated above: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <gpx version="1.0" creator="GPSBabel - http://www.gpsbabel.org" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/0/gpx.xsd"> <time>2006-06-19T20:23:53Z</time> <bounds minlat="41.806100942" minlon ="-72.682998357" maxlat="41.918913396" maxlon="-72.445267048" /> <wpt lat="41.868162313" lon="-72.445267048"> <ele>141.678955</ele> <name>006</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.868158709" lon="-72.445275094"> <ele>140.477417</ele> <name>007</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.806100942" lon="-72.555266535"> <ele>62.611084</ele> <name>009</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.808375204" lon="-72.546196310"> <ele>133.267456</ele> <name>010</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.827717284" lon="-72.498420551"> <ele>66.456299</ele> <name>011</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.816693405" lon="-72.456403747"> <ele>147.206421</ele> <name>012</name> <cmt>18-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>18-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.918913396" lon="-72.682998357"> <name>013</name> <cmt>19-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>19-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <wpt lat="41.815439221" lon="-72.456630059"> <ele>172.921631</ele> <name>014</name> <cmt>19-JUN-06</cmt> <desc>19-JUN-06</desc> <sym>Flag, Blue</sym> </wpt> <rte> <name>013 - 014</name> <rtept lat="41.918913396" lon="-72.682998357"> <ele>0.000000</ele> <name>013</name> <fix>none</fix> </rtept> <rtept lat="41.815439221" lon="-72.456630059"> <ele>0.000000</ele> <name>014</name> <fix>none</fix> </rtept> </rte> <rte> <name>014 - 013</name> <rtept lat="41.815439221" lon="-72.456630059"> <ele>0.000000</ele> <name>014</name> <fix>none</fix> </rtept> <rtept lat="41.918913396" lon="-72.682998357"> <ele>0.000000</ele> <name>013</name> <fix>none</fix> </rtept> </rte> <rte> <name>AAAA</name> <rtept lat="41.868162313" lon="-72.445267048"> <ele>0.000000</ele> <name>006</name> <fix>none</fix> </rtept> </rte> <trk> <name>0</name> <trkseg> <trkpt lat="41.815337799" lon="-72.456643051"> <ele>164.042114</ele> <time>2006-06-18T02:30:23Z</time> </trkpt> </trkseg> </trk> </gpx> |
