I knew that was a C99-ism as described in the comments above your edit and http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=10743988 and my reading of the C99 spec shows that stdint.h *should* be more common than inttypes.h, but given our use we can use either. I tossed in a bucket of "zero value add" changes yesterday aimed at silencing pedantic compilers, but I'm not opposed to more. A lot of what I saw from icc really is it pointing out things that don't matter. I think there was a grand total of one "real" problem (a bounds violation on a local array) actually fixed yesterday as a result of mowing those down.
