[Gpsbabel-misc] Unexpected character

Hello All:

I'm attempting to install GPSbabel onto a Windows 10 machine.  As soon as
the install process finishes and opens the application an error message
appears.  The error states:
  "Invalid return data at line 3: unexpected character."

The same error appears anytime I open GPSbabel after it has been installed.

Please advise how to resolve this error message.  Thanks.
