Hi Robert, Sorry for the delay to answer, I was working with another computer. I've done some experimentations, and here's the situation: 1 Move "gpsbabelfe_fr.ts" up one directory (out of "translations"/ in "GPSBabel") ==> No difference at all 2 Move "gpsbabel_fr.ts" up one directory as well ==> Same 3 Move "gpsbabelfe_fr.qm" up one directory and move the *.ts files back to "translations" ==> It works !! BUT if and only if GPSBabelfe.exe is launched from its install directory (i.e. "GPSBabel") Conclusions: 1 It's only the *.qm files that count, the *.ts ones are just the sources used to compile the *.qm 2 GPSBabelfe.exe obviously looks for such files _only in the directory from which it is launched_ (which can be just anywhere: in my case it was the desktop where I created the shortcut) instead of "calling home" in its "translations" directory. That's why/how Erik's trick works. Just to prove it: I create a shortcut to GPSBabel.exe on my desktop, without specifying in which directory to start. I launched GPSBabel with this shortcut and it worked in English, even though my OS is French. I then copied "gpsbabelfe_fr.qm" to my desktop, launched again GPSBabel from there and it worked in French. QED. PS: I forgot to say what a fantastic piece of software GPSBabel is, and to thank you for that and for your support!
