Enhance gphoto2 to support ptp cameras/devices shutdown and reboot (with reboot being a higher priority).

Maybe something can be harvested from this work? http://www.mweerden.net/chdk_ptp.html

Motivation: in cases where intermittent or allusive gphoto2 errors occur during time lapse photography (which would be resolved by restarting the device/camera) we can trap the errors and restart the device (while a more "strategic" resolution of the errors is pursued).

the ptp stuff is not in the official CHDK in yet, right?

if it is in development I am reluctant to add any reliance on it.

but I will keep my eyes on it.

I'm working on a timelapse system and am hoping to find a way to reboot the camera to aid in long term stability. I noticed this ticket which seems to be asking for the same thing but is a couple years old. Has there been any progress in this area?

gphoto2 --reset does a USB reset currently
