I am using a serial-port HP C200 camera under Gentoo
Linux, kernel 2.6.6-rc1. My problem is that gphoto2
intermittently gives "timeout" errors in the middle of
a transfer. I can try to transfer the same file
multiple times and it will always timeout at a
different percentage, and eventually it will work. It
seems to average about 3-4 tries to get a successful
transfer.
My settings file looks like this:
gphoto2=model=HP PhotoSmart C200
gphoto2=port=serial:/dev/tts/1
Here is the output from a failed attempt:
rimtrim ebay # gphoto2 --get-all-files
Downloading '032769.jpeg' from folder '/'...
*** Error (-10: 'Timeout reading from or writing to the
port') *** 7s
When this happens, the "read" light on the camera stays
on and I have to power-cycle the camera. I have tried
using various values of the "speed" parameter (I'm not
sure what's an appropriate number, though...) and
nothing helped, so I'm calling this a bug.

Same over here. I have never found out how to avoid such
situations. The camera tries 3 times to send a packet. I do
not know the command to reset the communication after the
third try failed.
