Ubuntu 11.04 no longer uses the Gnome panel, instead it uses Unity. Is there plans to build a Unity compatible version?

It can be enabled. they have an article bout the systray on webupd8. You install dconf-editior and can either re-enable the entire systray or certain apps. The way unity is, googsys is probably preferred to to be in the message menu now. Not sure if it's possible, but if not it can be put back in the systray
