Hello,
Very useful software, many thanks!
Can you please clarify what checking/unchecking "Force RTF Contacts" exactly does?
Hovering with the mouse over that check box, the following message is displayed:
"This specifies whether contact notes are updated with RTF, even if it destroys the RTF format"
Please clarify what this means.
I have had problems with syncing contact notes. I think I understand it is because outlook contact notes are RTF and google contact notes are in plain text.
I tested various options (with and without "Force RTF Contacts"), and some changes to contact notes still do not get synced. Despite there being a log record for the update, such as:
[4/17/2020 9:16:16 AM | Information] Updated Outlook contact from Google: "AAA Test created in outlook".
[4/17/2020 9:16:16 AM | Information] Updated Outlook contact from Google: "AAA Test created in gmail".
In other cases while testing, I got the following warning:
...
[4/17/2020 12:08:17 AM | Warning] Outlook contact notes body not updated, because it is RTF, otherwise it will overwrite it by plain text: Smith, John
[4/17/2020 12:08:18 AM | Information] Updated Outlook contact from Google: "Smith, John".
[4/17/2020 12:10:38 AM | Information] Sync complete. Synced: 1 out of 3762. Deleted: 0. Skipped: 0. Errors: 0.
In this case, despite this warning, the contact note body seems to have been updated.
To make this inquiry more specific, I'd be glad to give up on RTF altogether; i.e. in my case erasing all formatting of contact notes would be fine, even appreciated.
Please advise
- how to understand and use "Force RTF Contacts", and
- how to have all contact notes fully synced (while loosing formatting if necessary); of course if possible in the current version
Many thanks,
Marco
Your understanding of the option is correct, so if "Force RTF Contacts" option is checked then Outlook contact notes are overwritten by plain text from Google contact notes.
However befor being overwritten there are some few checks:
1. you need to wait between 2 sync at least 2 minutes, otherwise there is risk changes will be not detected
2. Outlook contact notes are first converted to plain text (by strippig RTF formatting) and if such notes are the same as Google notes than outlook notes are not touched (so RTF formatting stays)
Thanks!
