No

I only sync contacts (no appointments). The outlook contact folder field in GCSM is empty. Two error msgs are given: Outlook contact folder is not selected or invalid! and GCSM and Outlook started bij different users. Using Task Manager - Details I see that both GOContactsync. exe and OUTLOOK.exe have been started by same user. This problem occurs since a few weeks (before it worked flawlessly for several months) so it may be connected to last version.

Further information. I reboot my P daily. The last few days I see I do not get this error message a few minutes after booting, but many hours later. It looks at GCSM works fine for first (and maybe second) sync. But then the error appears agin

I see now that both OUTLOOK and GoContactSynd are started by same user, but Outlook is started normally and Gocontactsync is elevated (started as administrator). I do not see how GCDM is started (it is NOT in startup programs and not in task scheduler). How can I change the automatic startup of GCSM so it will start as normal user?

Problem seens to be that definition in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
defines GCSM for Windows server and not for Windows 10 or 11. This entry is greyed out and cannot be changed. I seems the task was created on an older Windows version and isn't fully compatible with Windows 11.

Hmm, but it runs fine on my Win10 and now Win11. Why shouldn't it run properly with this setting? And what is your advice, how to replace this setting?

I am having EXACTLY the same issue here, after installing latest version of GCSM (4.2.1) in Windows 11. I have also confirmed both applications (OUTLOOK.EXE and GCSM executable) are both launched by the same windows user (my standard user).

I've tried reinstalling a few times, but still same errors. I've been using GCSM since 2020 and first time seeing this error.

I found a workaround to this, working at least in my case. I hope this helps to others to fix this bug/issue.

In my case, the Elevated property is always set to "No" for both Outlook and GCSM processes. So, same user and same elevation level always.

Also, I always had an OUTLOOK.EXE process already in memory. So, when GCSM starts and tries to sync, it creates temporarily (a few seconds only) another second instance of OUTLOOK.EXE (again, same user and not elevated) that suddenly disappears just before getting the two error messages in GSCM.

In this way I though may be the root of the issue the 2 instances outlook.com process in memory. So, I tried to CLOSE the first instance of OUTLOOK.COM and let GCSM to initialize it. And it works! It does everything: opening Outlook folders, matching the contact, sync, etc

If for any reason the Outlook process is closed, it obviously fails. But if nothing happens, when finishing the sync, the outlook.com instance created/initiated by GCSM is closed, and in the next sync it works again.

Now is the time to investigate WHY I have an outlook.exe instance in memory after my windows 11 initiates -when I do use Outlook.com website instead- and HOW to avoid that (any tip welcome)

    Hope this helps.

I also receive this error and an error that the version of Outlook cannot be determined. I found the above workaround works (I shutdown the Microsoft Outlook task in Task Manager, restarted Go Contact Sync, and sucessfully synced Outlook with Gmail). What I noticed was Go Contact Synce initiated the older desktop verison of Outlook for a moment at the begining of the sync. I am using the New Outlook on my desktop.

I am getting the same error but cannot shut down the first Outlook before running GSC; when I do, it tells me it can't run without Outlook running. Am I missing something?

I limited my syncing to Contacts only (i.e, NOT Appointments) and it worked. I then added Appointments to my sync and it's still working. A mystery
