Hello,
Since v4 of this excellent program came out, I come across problems when syncing Contacts.
GSM indicates a contact has been deleted in Outlook (although the contact is still there) and asks whether I want to delete it on Google as well.
- I say yes and the contact seems ok on both Outlook and Google
- after a few of such request, I abort the sync
- I then restart the sync manually and the procedure doesn't complain at all, both platforms being in sync
I have a bad feeling about some contacts being either completely deleted or duplicated after a while.
I enclose the log covering the 2 syncs described above, hoping it helps finding out the cause of such behavior.
Let me know if I can help w/ any further information.
Please try again with new version 4.1.11, I found some places in the code, which could be responsible for this behavior. I consider it as a bug of the new Google People API, but I found a way to workaround it (I hope). Will monitor alson my hand. Until further notice, I would advice to keep the "Prompt delete" option switched on. You should also check your recycle bin for deleted contacts (on Google side as well as on Outlook side) to recover your incidentally deleted contacts!!!
I have v 4.1.10 and it is telling me I have the latest latest. https://i.imgur.com/gLMYAZF.png
I will DL but it is not updated in the program.
That's because it's not released officially yet. You have to download it manually from the Files pane
Yes. But 4.1.11 is also what comes up if you click on DOWNLAOD on the main page
Thanks for the update, I'll try it.
Just as an additional information about v.4.1.10: I noticed that :
- in a 1st run, I say 'delete on google as well' the contacts indicated as deleted from Outlook (although they are still present,
- on the 2nd run, it asks me about the same contacts the other way round: 'delete on Outlook as well'. Of course, in case I accept, those contacts are gone.
Glad you found some clue as to why this is happening and I'll keep you posted on v4.1.11.
Thanks for your doing a great job
Hello,
Just wanted to give you a feedback about v4.1.11. Looks like the problem has been (almost) resolved. I'm still getting some erratic messages about presumably deleted contacts (which I ignore) but it concerns only 1 or 2 out of 1'400 contacts during 1 sync out of around 5. So, I can live with it.
Thanks for the work on correcting these problem. But random erros and reports of outlook contact being deleted keep popping up. and this error also randomly: Warning | Exception Accessing Google contact: xxx, xxx internal. Skipping: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection.
Parameter name: index
using v4.1.11
I'm using 4.1.12 and the problem still persists. Gut feel tells me Google's People API is to blame. What else has changed recently? I've seen the problem over the last 2 or 3 upgrades (don't remember when it started) and I'm getting to the point where I'm tempted to stop using Go Contact Sync. This would be a real shame as I've used it for years without a hitch.
PS - my problem is the duplication (multiplication?!) of contacts. I cull them but they keep returning - seems like the same ones tend to get duplicated. I'm cleaning up in Outlook 2016 and also Google Contacts. As soon as GCSM runs I start to see duplication.
Still happening on 4.1.20. Reports outlook contact no longer exists - but it is there. If I click Keepp Google it make a duplicate on Outlook.
Yes, I can also confirm that this is still happening. When it does, I cancel the sync and re-sync and most of the time the problem doesn't repeat itself which is why I can't find any systematic explaining such behavior
On the old version 3 I sometimes lost the odd contact or two due to synching but version 4.1.10 seems to have a much more difficult time matching contacts. It seems to happen mostly on accounts where the contact on one side is filed without a comma and where the contact is filed with a comma on the other side. I'm on 4.1.10 currently and going to upgrade today. On my version for example if I have "Wallace, Shaun" for the "file as" field on one side and "Shaun Wallace" on the "file as" field on the other side it gets confused. The strange thing is it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It may synch one filed like that fine for a few fays and then suddenly not match them anymore. Very strange.
Still seems to be an issue on 4.1.20. Tried merging all duplicates on both Outlook and Google and after a synch it still creates lots and lots of duplicates :-( It will say one exists one side but not the other. Seems to still have problems on names where "file as" has a comma.
I was just on 4.1.15 and am having the same issue. I know I have just under 1500 contacts, but currently have 791. I have nearly 3000 contacts in Deleted Items (2976, to be exact)! I don't delete contact that often, I would have been surprised if I had 20 in Deleted Items. I just upgraded to .25 (the latest available), but my confidence in using this product is pretty much gone. Now I've gotta go thru the Deleted Items contacts one-by-one to see which ones are missing from my REAL contacts. UGH! Let me know if there's anything I can do to help troubleshoot.

I fundamentally Restructured the handling how and when to delete a contact, especially for SyncOptions GoogleToOutlookOnly and OutlookToGoogleOnly, will be part of 4.1.28 version, pleaes doublecheck and feedback, if it is solved (and if not, please provide me your log and problem description, incl. screenshot how your GCSM settings)
no further complains, so I think it should be fixed now
Hello Florian,
Your assumption is incorrect as I encountered this problem no later than yesterday (using v4.1.29). It is the same problem as reported in bug #1324. Next time it happens, I'll send you the log
