Things are supposed to be written to where the patch file says. With '-o 
DCPlusPlus.rc' the patch is rejected and DCPlusPlus.rc is truncated to 0 
bytes (I suspect that this is normal behavior). Output to a new file is 
working fine, as expected.

I'm using cmd. I've only seen cygwin version of bash on win32, but I 
don't want to use cygwin if I can manage without.
