Hello. I'm trying to use GNUWin32 'cpio' command. I downloaded 'cpio-2.4.2-bin.zip', and uncompressed 'bin' folder. But when executing cpio.exe, I get this error message: "Couldn't find udbase.dll dynamic library in the directory" Any experience? Thank you very much. -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------------------- =BFConoces eBay, el mayor centro de compra y venta en internet? An MS-Windows (Win32) port of JbigKit-1.4 is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net JBIG-KIT implements a highly effective data compression algorithm for bi-level high-resolution images such as fax pages or scanned documents. JBIG-KIT provides a portable library of compression and decompression functions with a documented interface that you can very easily include into your image or document processing software. In addition, JBIG-KIT provides ready-to-use compression and decompression programs with a simple command line interface (similar to the converters found in netpbm). |

An MS-Windows (Win32) port of Popt-1.6.4 is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net The popt library exists essentially for parsing commandline options. It is found superior in many ways when compared to parsing the argv array by hand or using the getopt functions getopt() and getopt_long() [see getopt(3)]. Some specific advantages of popt are: it does not utilize global variables, thus enabling multiple passes in parsing argv ; it can parse an arbitrary array of argv-style elements, allowing parsing of command -line-strings from any source; it provides a standard method of option aliasing (to be discussed at length below.); it can exec external option filters; and, finally, it can automatically generate help and usage messages for the application. |

An MS-Windows (Win32) port of ImgToPs2-0.1 is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net imgtops2 is a utility for converting images to PostScript Level 2. Level 2 supports more efficient encoding of image data than the original PostScript standard, so the files produced by imgtops2 are significantly smaller than those made by pnmtops of the PBMPlus package or convert of the ImageMagick package. This is especially true of JPEG files, which Level 2 can handle directly but Level 1 implementations must first decompress. Level 2 PostScript has been the standard for almost a decade now (Level 3 is actually out now), so nearly all printers support it. |

A Win32-port of the latest release (1.9 of Jpeg2Ps is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net jpeg2ps is a utility for converting JPEG images to compressed PostScript Level 2 or 3 files (without uncompressing the images). A Win32-port of the latest release (3.4.1) of Ttf2Pt1 is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/ Ttf2pt1 converts TrueType fonts to Postscript Type1 fonts. Changes in 3.4.1 -- June 13, 2002 ------- New features: - Added Autotrace support for the bitmap fonts (-OZ). It's horrible. - Added vectorization of bitmap fonts (-OV) - functionally the same thing as autotrace but home-grown. Works mostly decently but still with large space for improvement. - Relaxed the conditions for warnings about long glyphs. Bug fixes: - Fix by Rob Kolstad for a crash in the new outline smoothing code (on small thin contours) and diagnostic for another crash. - Fix by Holger Huesing for a crash on degenerate contours. - Fix for bitmaps of zero dimensions. - The BDF reader does not fail on redefintion of the properties. - Fix for reading of BDF glyphs with 0 size. - Fix for a hang when guessing the boldness of some fonts. - Fix by Adriano Konzen for scaling coefficients in composite glyphs. |

An MS-Windows (Win32) port of AutoConf-2.53 is available from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net Extensible package of m4 macros that produce shell scripts to automatically configure software source code packages. These scripts can adapt the packages to many kinds of UNIX-like systems without manual user intervention. Autoconf requires GNU m4. You must install GNU m4 before configuring autoconf, so that Autoconf's configure script can find it. The configuration scripts produced by auto conf are self-contained, so their users do not need to have autoconf or GNU m4. |

The second message is certainly not unusual: it only says it can't read the whole file into memory, and will read from disk. I don't know about the first message, but as long as your output is correct, I presume it doesn't mean there's something wrong. Perhaps when you ask on the wv-list, you might get a more precise answer. ----- Oorspronkelijk bericht ----- Van: "Denis" <des...@ro...> Aan: <kee...@hc...> Verzonden: maandag 22 april 2002 17:15 Onderwerp: using wv > Hi, i'm using wv and I receive these messages. > > - Diagnostic: (./wvWare.c:####) > Diagnostic (./dttm.c: ####) > > and > > - I won't mmap that file, using a slower method > > Is it normal? > > Thanks. > |

The support for using GSL with Borland or MSVC seems broken; see the earlier discussions on this list and the GSL list. Therefore the Borland and MSVC libraries have been removed from the Gnuwin32 distribution. It will be reported to the lists when the problems have been solved and a new port has been released.
