Please, if possible, consider updating the coreutils package to include the utilities that compute/ verify ‘sha-2’ digests. According to the manual linked from http://www.gnu.org/software/coreutils/, the current version of the GNU package includes sha224sum, sha256sum, sha384sum and sha512sum.
I needed these to check the Fedora 11 (Beta) ISOs on Windows (to be used with virtualisation). Previous versions of Fedora published SHA1SUMs, which I could verify, but with F11 BETA the distributors switched to publishing SHA256 digests.
The latest core-utils is highly needed on Windows, once for the checksum programs like sha512sum (e.g. Filezilla changed to .sha512 checksum files), and also for many more commands.
Current core-utils version is 7.4
