Hi makesis for linux is now available for download from here: http://www.symbianos.org/download/ or if you are a lucky Debian user (like me;) you can add deb http://ftp.symbianos.org/debian sid main deb-src http://ftp.symbianos.org/debian sid main to your /etc/apt/sources.list file and do: # apt-get update # apt-get install makesis Currently it can produce identical .sis files compared to the win32 version running on i386 platforms. Big endian platforms will not work, yet. I would like to do more work on makesis, but given the strange license it is released under I am a bit hesitant to continue any work on makesis. If we are allowed to redistribute it under an OSI-approved license (GPL, BSD, ...) the situation would be much better. There I hope that Symbian get continue the good trend of releasing source code for various tools, and hopefully with a GPLv2 license. I have plans of cleaning up all the gnupoc patches and make some easy-going installation scripts (using wget) to fetch the SDK, patch it up and setup everything using: # apt-get install gnupoc-p800cpp (To install the SonyEricsson P800 SDK including all tools) My main de-motivator is the licensing issues... /alfred |
