page shows lots of use of histograms on gnuplot. Yet when I try to use some of the commands like:
set style data histogram
wgnuplot interpreter throws an error pointing to the 'histogram' (non)keyword.
The above page is from middle last year so I would have thought that these great features would be in the Windows binaries that I very recently downloaded and installed. Anyone have specific knowledge about this?

Download dates are irrelevant. Look at the actual file timestamps, and/or the "last modified" date given in the greeting text, and you'll find that that webpage is newer than your program.
Look at the webpage a bit closer, and you'll find it's talking about propsed new features, not the 4.0 version. Or what do you think the word "patchset" in the title of that page means?
