I have had gnuplot and gnuplot_window open for I
whole week. Now I come back and when I move the mouse in the gnuplot_x11 the gnuplot in the terminal just writes:
mouse.c:1757 protocol error
What did I do wrong, can somebody help me. This problem is not permanent, so when I close the gnuplot and restart it, the error disappears.

"Protocol error" means that some mouse-handling message came in that doesn't fit into the language supposedly being spoken between the mousable terminal driver and gnuplot's main program.
Unless you can show a way of reliably reproducing that error message in substantially less than one week of time, there's essentially nothing we could possibly do about it.
